Dearcán Poetry & Press

An independent home for work that takes the body, the dirt, and the unknown seriously. It begins with one voice across several forms — a collection, a serialized novel, a field guide — and is built to hold more.

37 Spells

A Storied Collection

A rollicking poet's adventure pressing firmly on the illuminate button of reality, where the words, phrases, and pauses weave into spell-casting magic. The collection breathes silence into the reader, and forgiveness, and wow too. There's all kinds of joy in between these pages.

Drop Out

A novel

A queer coming-of-age story, published episodically as it's written. The complete novel arrives under Dearcán — but the chapters are already going up, one at a time, for readers who want to be there as it unfolds.

An Instrument

The Human Model Card

We are already woven into our machines — not someday, but now, in the way we reach for them to remember, to reach each other, to make.

The Human Model Card is a small instrument that meets a person where they are and returns something made only for them.

It generates no words. Every line it offers is already mine — drawn from a private library, recombined for the one who came.

That's the whole wager: technology as an instrument played by a human hand, not a machine pretending to be one. Ancient material, modern strings.

About

The hand behind Dearcán

Dearcán is the publishing home of Sky Ó Flaithbheartaigh — a poet, novelist, and maker working at the meeting of the ancient and the modern.

The work moves through poetry, fiction, philosophy, photography, and AI-built art, but it keeps one thread: elemental, unafraid of technology, unafraid of mortality — willing to come apart into flecks of dust and light, and call that love.

Sky also practices and teaches storytelling, and is building new instruments for what stories can do when human craft and new technology are held in the same hand. Dearcán begins with one voice and is built to grow.
